GIB! Fingers crossed for the White Sox. Them and A’s are like mirror images of each other this year. Today’s win ner moves on. As for the Northside RS, the Cubs were doomed the moment they were matched with the Marlins. Miami, along with the Southsiders, are one of the club’s many jinxes. Yesterday was a good example. Happ crushes a solo shot on a day the wind is blowing in hard. Hendricks is killing it with his breaking balls. Then it fa lls apart all in 1/2 inning.

Good thing I turned it off after the Happ homer

My neighbor had an almost identical build. Backdated SC, same color scheme. I think his was a sli ghtly different year though.

Not a 73' RS clone? A guy around here built one and takes it to S Car Go, I saw him come out of there once, sounds insane.

You put older bits on a more modern model to make it look like an older one. You could do it with many vehicles that had long production that consisted mostly of facelifts. Like this MG for example.

So “backdated” is a fancy way of saying “replica”.

In this case, yeah, but you don’t necessarily have to replicate a sought after trim to backdate something. Some people just prefer the old look. I’m sure that’s the case with the MG mentioned earlier, but with this Porsche they probably wanted to build their dream and sought a clean candidate for the build.

I don’t know where you draw the line between tribute, clone and replica. Perhaps tributes pay tribute but don’t necessarily mimic down to the last detail while a clone would. I’m not sure how you differentiate replica and clone. I always considered replicas to be kit cars or something, such as those kit Cobras and fake Lambos. I dunno tho.

Not a fan of the dished rear wheels or the slight forward rake but it’s a f antastic car.

I should have put my money into an AC’d 911 when I sold my house in Chicago and moved back home to the Detroit area in ‘03.

IMO a replica is from scratch.

While there is a difference between using a donor vehicle, or building a vehicle from scratch, I think the term “replica” still applies to either . I’ve never heard the term “backdated” used in vehicle building. For fancy vehicles, they usually just say it was built using “ non matching parts”, but you generally don’t want to advertise that.

I’ve never heard backdated either. Throwing something together for the FP now. :-)x

Replacing the impact bumper with the long hood / short bumper look of the pre-1974 cars. I think the 1963-73 cars are the prettiest 911s.

No, it’s changing trim  bits on a model to match an earlier version of the same car.

What an investment it would have been. Just think the early cars and the 356 used to be worth nothing because of the rust.
